Korìana is a five-part journey exploring the history and stories of Corigliano D’Otranto Castle, through the voices of those who have lived there, passed through it, and those who still do so today. From a military fortress defending the village to a noble residence, an olive oil mill, a steam mill, a tobacco factory and, today, a cultural space, it is through the tales of its old and new inhabitants that the Castle reveals itself in every corner, every stone.
Korìana, the village’s name in the Grika language, is a journey between past and present through the magic of the words of those born within those walls, those who guard its secrets, and those who today, through the Castello Volante project, experience the place as a public space open to the community and the local area. A castle that becomes a creative workshop for the production of images, sounds and visions, harbouring endless stories that reveal how the Castle of Corigliano D’Otranto is not merely a historical monument, a museum or a venue for events, but the key to understanding the history of an entire community.

The podcast, coordinated by Coolclub and under the artistic direction of Big Sur, was produced as part of the ‘Il Castello di tutti’ project, promoted by the Municipality of Corigliano D’Otranto and supported by the Ministry of Culture to enable wider participation in culture, as part of the public call for proposals (PNRR M1C3-3) aimed at removing physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries and archives.
