A day of wellbeing, good food, music and activities designed for all ages. On 12 April, from 10.00 to 19.30, the first spring event in the ‘Le Domeniche al Castello Volante’ series takes place at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto. The event kicks off at 10.00 am (tickets €10 – info and bookings on 3519137972) with the guided tour ‘From the Castello de’ Monti to the Castello Volante’, offering an insight into a unique medieval manor, protected by an imposing 16th-century fortress that has withstood centuries of sieges and transformations. Amidst the halls and courtyards, the elegance of the ancient noble court resurfaces, whilst legends of Turkish raids, passions and battles continue to haunt these walls. The eye is also drawn to the refined Baroque façade, considered a true gem of Lecce Baroque. But the story does not end there: the tour also takes in the still-visible traces of Salento’s vibrant modern economy. The sign of a steam mill, an olive oil mill and even a tobacco factory paint a picture of a hard-working and productive region. Finally, the journey reaches the present day: the Castello Volante is now a contemporary creative hub where art, music and food and wine breathe new life into these centuries-old stones. An experience that weaves together culture, memory and visions of the future. At 10.30 am (ticket €5 – bookings on 3519137972), a yoga session led by Ada Turco, designed to kick off Sunday in an atmosphere of balance and relaxation, helping you rediscover concentration, harmony and wellbeing. At 11.30 am (tickets €10 for adults – €5 for children – info and bookings on 3519137972) Missione Castello, a team-based tour and game featuring fancy dress and medieval games, designed especially for families with children aged 8 to 12. Throughout the morning and into the late afternoon, the InfoPoint will also be running ‘Il cortile dei giochi antichi’ (The Courtyard of Ancient Games), a space dedicated to play set up within the fortress grounds, with free entry. From 12:00 at Nuvole, a bistro and cocktail bar on the terraces, you can enjoy brunch (admission €15 – information and table bookings on 3343429268) whilst listening to a musical selection curated by Sonic The Tonic. ‘Sundays at Castello Volante’ will return on 19 and 26 April (coinciding with the San Giorgio Fair).
