New details have emerged for the 20th edition of Coolclub’s SEI Festival, themed ‘Venti a Sud Est’.
From Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th July, the festival will move to the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto for three nights packed with live music. On Thursday 23rd (tickets available on Dice and Ticketmaster), the British band Fat Dog will take to the stage with an exhilarating mix of electro-punk, rock ’n’ roll growls, techno soundscapes, industrial-pop and rave euphoria. On Friday 24th (tickets available on Dice), the spotlight will be on Lamante, a singer-songwriter from Veneto who brings with her a sense of expressive urgency, pain, anger and atonement, Nobraino, celebrating twenty years of incendiary gigs, tour anecdotes, endless ups and downs, and Eva Bloo, a young artist who has made electronic music her means of expression since she was just fifteen. On Saturday 25th (tickets available on Dice), don’t miss Bull Brigade, one of the most established and recognised acts on the Italian punk rock scene.
SOUTH-EAST WINDS
The visual identity is the work of Giuseppe Laselva, a graphic designer and animator from Puglia who trained in Bari and Urbino, and is now Art Director at Push Studio. The visual takes shape from the slogan, much like a poetic compass. At the centre appears a contemporary Aeolus, a guiding face from which currents of colour radiate. From his breath emerge luminous trajectories crossed by migratory birds, a metaphor for travelling sounds and the creative paths that the festival continues to open up. Like the winds that sweep across this land, the graphic design conveys a sense of continuous movement: SEI – founded in 2006 as Sud Est Indipendente – celebrates its roots whilst looking beyond, embracing sounds from near and far, tradition and experimentation.
THE FESTIVAL
SEI is conceived, produced and promoted by CoolClub, under the artistic direction of Cesare Liaci and Veronica Clarizio, with the backing of the Ministry of Culture and the Puglia Region, and with the support of Garofano Vigneti e Cantine, in collaboration with numerous public and private organisations. Over the course of twenty years, the festival has hosted some of the most interesting voices on the international and national music scene, forging a coherent and distinctive identity. Artists who have graced its stages include Arab Strap, Beach Fossils, Gogol Bordello, Cat Power, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Kings of Convenience, Joan As Police Woman, Goran Bregović, Lee Ranaldo, Patrick Watson, Peter Hook and the Light, Suzanne Vega, Shame, Thurston Moore Group, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Yīn Yīn, Afterhours, CCCP – Fedeli alla Linea, Calibro 35, Calcutta, Clap! Clap!, Daniele Silvestri, Francesco Bianconi, Niccolò Fabi, Il Teatro degli Orrori, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Venerus, Populous and many others.
