There are places that continue to hold stories even when everything around them changes. “Nuvole Sonore” stems from this: from the desire to bring together memory and the present, listening and sharing, curiosity and exploration.
Under the artistic direction of Max Nocco — a musician, tireless vinyl collector and connoisseur of musical journeys — the series comes to life on the terraces of the bistro overlooking the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, the very same place that, thirty years ago, served as the backdrop to a small musical revolution.
In September 1996, opposite the Castle of Corigliano d’Otranto, the Crash opened its doors: much more than a record shop, it was a refuge, a meeting place, a cultural hub for those seeking ‘something different’. Punk, electronic, metal, indie-rock, noise, reggae, rap: musical worlds that were then on the fringes and which found a space, a voice and a community right there. For twelve years, Crash was a laboratory for listening and discovery, fuelled by an underground energy that was free and essential.
‘Nuvole Sonore’ takes up that legacy and reimagines it in a new form: an intimate yet open musical salon, where the playlist becomes a narrative and listening a shared experience. Not merely a series of events, but an invitation to slow down, to let the music wash over you, to rediscover the value of sound as a space for connection.
It is also, inevitably, a tribute to that “beautiful, wholesome madness” that defined an era — a ferment that perhaps no longer exists in the same form today, but which continues to transform, to migrate, to find new clouds on which to travel.
And as summer brings the terraces to life and the sky fills with sounds, ‘Nuvole Sonore’ becomes a point suspended between past and future, where every listening experience is a possibility and every track a story to be lived.
