On Friday 3 July, Improvvisart will return to the crime scene at Nuvole, the bistro on the terraces of the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, with the Murder Mystery Dinner ‘Mamma li Turchi!’. An exclusive, site-specific Murder Mystery Dinner designed specifically for the evocative spaces of the ancient manor, where history, legend and mystery intertwine in a gripping investigative experience.
The story begins with an extraordinary discovery: a precious and mysterious historical artefact has recently been unearthed inside the castle – an object that appears to bear witness to the Ottoman troops’ attempt to push inland into the Salento region following the 1480 siege of Otranto. An exceptional find, capable of rewriting part of local history and attracting the interest of scholars, collectors and enthusiasts from far and wide.
To celebrate the event and vie for the precious artefact, an exclusive dinner has been organised for wealthy collectors and distinguished guests. Everything seems to be going smoothly, amidst conversation, negotiations and curiosity about the newly discovered artefact. But when mystery meets greed, ambition and the secrets of the past, danger is always just round the corner.
Suddenly, before the incredulous eyes of those present, a horrific murder shatters the evening and transforms a quiet dinner into a complex investigation. Who had a motive to kill the victim? What secrets lie behind the artefact? And above all, what truly links the protagonists of this story?
From that moment on, every table will become a fully-fledged investigative team. Between courses, the participants will be called upon to observe, gather clues, analyse evidence, question suspects and piece together a plot woven from lies, rivalries, double-crosses and twists.
In a place that has for centuries harboured tales of sieges, battles and intrigues, the line between past and present will become increasingly blurred. Every detail could prove decisive, and every suspect might be hiding an unspeakable truth.
‘Cena con Delitto’ is a dinner-theatre event that unfolds before the guests’ very eyes: the actors from Improvvisart will join the diners, mingle with the waiting staff or kitchen crew, or pretend to be the restaurant’s owners.
